Ingredients

  • 2 cups water enough to fill the pot about halfway
  • 1 cup fresh pumpkin chunks peeled and gently mashed
  • 1 cinnamon stick cinnamon stick for warm, spicy aroma
  • 3 whole cloves whole cloves adds spice depth
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract optional for warmth

Equipment

  • SmallPot
  • Ladle

Method

  1. Pour water into a small pot and place it on the stove over low heat.
  2. Add the pumpkin chunks, cinnamon stick, and whole cloves into the water. Gently stir to combine.
  3. Turn the heat up just enough to bring the water to a gentle simmer; you should see small bubbles forming.
  4. Let the mixture simmer uncovered for about 10-15 minutes, during which the aroma will start to fill the room and the ingredients will soften slightly.
  5. Occasionally, lift the cinnamon stick and cloves to see how fragrant they are becoming and stir gently to help the scents blend.
  6. Once steaming and fragrant, remove from heat or keep on very low to maintain scent release, adding a splash of vanilla extract if desired for extra warmth.

Notes

Keep an eye on the water level; add more if it evaporates too quickly. Adjust spices to intensify or mellow the aroma as desired.
