- Pour water into a small pot and place it on the stove over low heat.
- Add the pumpkin chunks, cinnamon stick, and whole cloves into the water. Gently stir to combine.
- Turn the heat up just enough to bring the water to a gentle simmer; you should see small bubbles forming.
- Let the mixture simmer uncovered for about 10-15 minutes, during which the aroma will start to fill the room and the ingredients will soften slightly.
- Occasionally, lift the cinnamon stick and cloves to see how fragrant they are becoming and stir gently to help the scents blend.
- Once steaming and fragrant, remove from heat or keep on very low to maintain scent release, adding a splash of vanilla extract if desired for extra warmth.
Notes
Keep an eye on the water level; add more if it evaporates too quickly. Adjust spices to intensify or mellow the aroma as desired.
