Method
- Slice burger buns in half horizontally using a knife on the cutting board.
- Place the skillet over medium heat and toast the cut sides of the buns until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes.
- Remove buns from skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, add burger patties and cook until warmed through and slightly browned, about 2-3 minutes.
- Spread a tablespoon of tomato sauce on the bottom half of each toasted bun.
- Place a cooked burger patty on top of the sauce, then sprinkle shredded cheese over the patty.
- Add optional toppings like jalapeƱos or herbs on the cheese if desired.
- Cover with the top half of the bun and press gently to assemble.
- Optional: briefly microwave or put in oven to melt the cheese further if desired, until bubbly.
