Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh cranberries rinsed
  • 2 cinnamon sticks cinnamon sticks
  • 4 cups water

Equipment

  • Large Pot
  • measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Fill a large pot with four cups of water and add the cinnamon sticks.
  2. Bring the water to a gentle simmer over medium-low heat; you should hear a soft bubbling sound and smell the warm spice aroma.
  3. Add the rinsed cranberries to the simmering water, scattering them evenly across the surface.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and allow the mixture to simmer gently, letting the cranberries and cinnamon infuse for about 20-30 minutes; watch for gentle bubbling and a vibrant, slightly frothy appearance.
  5. Occasionally, stir gently to release more aroma and prevent berries from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
  6. Once the cranberries have softened and the mixture is fragrant, you can remove the pot from heat if desired, or leave it on very low to continue releasing aroma.

Notes

Keep an eye on water level during simmering; top up with hot water if needed to prevent burning and maintain aroma. For extra cozy scent, add a few drops of vanilla extract after simmering.
